Keep Calm Mother On! with Christy Thomas

Aug 2, 2024

In this episode, Christy Thomas a life coach and positive discipline educator, explores the importance of moms connecting with their whole selves—beyond just the role of motherhood. Discover daily habits that focus on the head (brain), heart (people and passions), soul (spirit), and body (health) to help you nurture every part of who you are.

Key Takeaways:

  • Head (Brain): Start your day with mindfulness and dedicate time to learning something new.
  • Heart (People and Passions): Make intentional connections with loved ones and carve out time for your passions.
  • Soul (Spirit): Incorporate quiet reflection, prayer, or affirmations to nourish your inner self.
  • Body (Health): Prioritize physical activity and mindful eating to maintain your health

Self-Care:  Do a one-minute task for each of the four ways to be a friend to yourself Head, Heart, Soul and Body.

Family Fun:

 "Head, Heart, Soul, Body Bingo."

How to Play:

  1. Create Bingo Cards:

    • Make bingo cards with four columns labeled "Head," "Heart," "Soul," and "Body."
    • Under each column, list different activities or actions related to each category. For example:
      • Head: Read a new fact, solve a riddle, share something you learned today.
      • Heart: Give someone a compliment, share a favorite memory, do something kind for a family member.
      • Soul: Share something you’re grateful for, do a mindfulness activity, talk about a favorite hobby.
      • Body: Do 10 jumping jacks, eat a healthy snack, take a walk together.
  2. Set a Time Frame:

    • Decide whether you'll play the game over an afternoon, a day, or a week.
  3. Complete Activities:

    • Each family member works to complete activities from each category. When they complete an activity, they mark off that square on their bingo card.
  4. First to Bingo:

    • The first person to complete a row, column, or diagonal wins, but the real focus is on everyone engaging with activities that nourish their whole selves.
  5. Reflection:

    • At the end of the game, gather together to share which activities everyone enjoyed the most and how it made them feel connected to their whole self.

This game encourages mindfulness, connection, and physical activity, all while making it fun for the whole family!
