About Christy: 

My name is Christy. I am a teacher and have worked with kids and parents for 30 years.

It has never been easy for me to mother. We’ve had quite a few unexpected hurdles. Through that experience, I’ve learned self-compassion, mindfulness, and human-centered mothering that sees me as a person with needs and priorities. 

In November 2018, we moved again to a new town where I didn’t know anyone. On a whim, I recorded a podcast and uploaded it before we headed off to the children's science museum. This book is a celebration of that boldness. When it started, it was called Everyday Motherhood. During the great shutdown of 2020, I changed the title to Keep Calm Mother On. Each episode has always ended with a self-care and family connection play idea. I want it to be practical and helpful for you, the voice I wish I had found when my husband was on his first deployment and I had two toddlers at home. 


Put your hand on your heart with me and breathe. You are doing a good enough job. 


Don’t give up. I am so lucky to mother shoulder to shoulder with you right now. I am glad you are here.




Self-Care:  Give yourself a deep hug and take credit for all of the ways you love your life and your children.  You love so generously and in so many ways that you don't even notice it any more.  So take a moment and celebrate your journey and your path.
